Cleopatra Fyntanidou was born in Athens, Greece. She studied European Civilization at the Hellenic Open University and Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute of Athens. Music tradition is part of her family as her Russian great-grandfather and her grandfather were both famous jazz musicians. Although her grandfather lived in New York, she had been strongly influenced by him when she started her first classical piano lessons at the age of six. At the age of fifteen she started djing at school parties. Despite the fact that she was a music lover and a vinyl collector from a very young age, she had never thought of being a professional dj until she came back from London, where she had lived for almost a year. Her first appearance as a professional dj was due to an annual collaboration she had with “Red Bull”. That was a good start not only because she gained a lot of experience, but also because it enabled her to travel around Greece and perform in numerous clubs.
For many years she worked as a music supervisor in various radio and TV stations in Greece, such as “Flash 96.1”, “Athens 98.4”, “NET” and “Mega Channel”. In 1997 she was in charge of radio promotion at the Public Relations Department of “Polygram Recording Company”. From 1999 to 2001 she had her own two-hour electronic music radio show every weekend (01:00 – 03:00 am GMT+2) at the Athenian radio station “Klik FM 88”. From 2001 until 2012 she hosted and produced the leading and highly acclaimed afterhours zone (Monday to Thursday 00:00 – 02:00 am GMT +2) at the most influential and trendsetting electronic music radio station of Athens, “Best 92,6”.
Cleopatra’s diverse interests led to her involvement with different aspects of music. In November 2003 she was the music supervisor and dj at Maria Wiener’s live dance performance with improvised choreography and animation projections entitled “AtmoSphere”, an event which was organized by the University of Luton and took place at the “Hat Factory Theatre” (Luton, UK). In April 2006 she participated in the “Athens Video Art Festival” as a music supervisor in Glykeria Zannou’s video installation entitled “Love”.
Cleopatra has performed as a dj in several prestigious events. These include: “European Music Day” (June 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2012, Αthens), “Spring Fashion Show of Oscar de la Renta” by Haris Tsimogiannis (March 2005, Athens), “De La Guarda” after show party (February 2006, Athens), “Athens Xclusive Designers Week”- Christoforos Kotentos’ fashion show (May 2007), “Boy George’s ‘B Rude’ fashion show party” (November 2007, Athens), “Platforma Video 7” (December 2007, Αthens).
Cleopatra has shared the decks with other internationally renowned djs, such as Nick Warren, Mistress Barbara, The Flash Brothers, Sister Bliss, Mathew Dekay, Seb Fontaine, Superpitcher, Navid Tahernia, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Jan Carbon, Hiroshi Watanabe, Markus Schulz, Deadmau5, Booka Shade, Betoko and G Pal. She is considered to be one of the most respected and popular djs in Greece.
